Die Blogparade “Fotos von verlassenen Häusern” von hombertho habe ich als Anstoss genommen, endlich mal einen Artikel über den Palast von Knossos (Kreta) zu verfassen.
Mein Foto für die Blogparade zeigt das berühmte Delphinfresko im Palast von Knossos. Zwar kein verlassenes Haus von Außen, dafür ein verlassener Palast von Innen *g*
Wir waren im November 2009 auf Kreta und haben dort auch dem Palast von Knossos einen Besuch abgestattet. Ich muss schon sagen – wirklich beeindruckend! Der Palast dürfte früher aus ca. 1300 Räumen bestanden haben, hatte eine umbaute Fläche von ca. 21.000 qm, war 7,5 qkm groß und ist über 3000 Jahre alt!
Man kann in der Palastanlage frei herum laufen – einige Räume sind jedoch absperrt und man hat nur einen kleinen Einblick von Außen. Fotos sind auch erlaubt – allerdings war der Eintritt mit 6,00 € relativ teuer – dafür, dass wir danach festgestellt haben, dass man auch ohne Eintrittskarte rein gekommen wäre – es wurde weder kontrolliert, noch war der Eingang abgesperrt – naja 
Wir hatten zwar keinen eigenen Palastführer, man konnte sich aber verschiedenen Gruppen anschließen – man musste nur schauen, dass man eine deutsche oder englische Gruppe erwischt hat *g* Unser Palastführer hat viele interessante Sachen berichtet, z. B. dass es im Palast bereits Warmwasserheizungen, Sitzbadewannen und Klosets mit Wasserspülung gab! Echt Wahnsinn – wenn man sich überlegt, dass wir zu dieser Zeit wahrscheinlich gerade mal Plumpsklos hatten 
wenn überhaupt^^ Ebenso wurde der Regen in steinernen Rinnen aufgefangen und in Zisternen gesammelt.
Viele Teile des Palasts sind leider durch Erdbeben, Kriege, Flutwellen, etc. zerstört worden.
um 1370 v. Chr. wurde der Palast dann endgültig aufgegeben, weil ein Großteil durch ein Feuer, das mehrere Tage gewütet haben muss, zerstört wurde.

@Chriz: Ich kann Knossos und Kreta allgemein wirklich weiterempfehlen – der Urlaub dort war super! Ein guter Mix aus Kultur- und Badeurlaub
